New Design

Look at me, no more default layout.

I updated the design of my blog tonight. I created this months ago and just never really finished it. So got it good enough to launch and just went with it. Its rough around the edges, but it will give me something to play with.

I got sick of using the default layout. That's not even the layout shipping with Mephisto anymore! I'm hoping the new design will inspire me to post more, so we'll see!

Use SMTP on LOCALHOST on OS X

Using ActionMailer? Using OS X? Want to use SMTP via localhost. Its good right?

I tried this afternoon and postfix just wasn't playing friendly.

I got 0 errors, but mail wasn't being sent. The problem was, postfix isn't configured to send out of the box for Os X.

I found a great solution here

Good Luck.

JuneBug Wiki

So _Why dropped a nice little tip for a new wiki built on Camping. JuneBug Wiki.

I'm pretty excited about it, its exactly what I've been looking for. A real simple personal wiki, that doesn't look like crap, isn't bloated, and supports Textile. It doesn't hurt to be built on Ruby either.

What's exciting about it is that its brand new and fresh. Ready for a direction. You can check out the project at RubyForge. I just might have to suck it down and do some poking and proding...

FYI, make sure you have the libsqlite3-dev package installed on (ubuntu|debian), or the sqlite gem won't compile. I ran into that problem on Edgy and Dapper, but an Os X install went perfectly smooth.

The Future of Web Apps 2006 Audio Feed

Carson Workshops posted the audio (THANK YOU!) for their recent two day workshop hosted in San Francisco. The Future of Web Apps brings together some of the movers and shakers in the current web to toss off a bit of knowledge they've learned along the way.

I've created a feed you can subscribe to if you'd rather download that way. I know I did.

Here We Go Again

In the interest of abstracting all of the dev related posts from my normal blog, I've started another one. It was getting a bit cluttered over there. Even though JTOE is about everything, it's dev concentration was getting enough that I thought I'd start posting here.

I've repurposed a couple recent posts just to get things going. I'm using Mephisto. So far, so good. It's missing a few things like pingbacks and trackbacks.

This is here to register with technorati... You know.. the housekeeping.
